Hat Yai International Airport (IATA: HDY, ICAO: VTSS), located near the city
of Hat Yai, serves as the primary southern hub airport in Thailand. Managed
by Airports of Thailand, PLC (AOT), it holds significant importance,
particularly for Muslim travelers embarking on the pilgrimage to Mecca.
Annually, Hat Yai International Airport manages a substantial volume of air
traffic, including over 1,500,000 passengers, 9,500 flights, and 12,000 tons
of cargo. Situated at an elevation of 28 meters above sea level, the airport
is conveniently positioned just 9 kilometers (6 miles) from downtown Hat Yai.
Highway 4135 (Sanambin Panij Road) provides direct access to the airport,
